MODEL VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT

PURPOSE:
This Act provides rights for victims of crime to certain protections in the criminal justice system, for information about criminal cases resulting from the crimes of which they are victims, and to appear in proceedings regarding the sentencing or other disposition of those convicted of the crimes of which they are victims. The Act further establishes a system of compensation for those personally injured as a result of criminal activity, with maximum compensation of $25,000.
