A Few Facts About The...

UNIFORM CERTIFICATION OF QUESTIONS OF LAW ACT (1995)

PURPOSE:
This Act permits a federal court, courts of another State, and certain foreign country courts to petition the designated court of a State adopting this Act to decide a question of law certified in the petitioning court. It also permits the designated courts of an adopting State to forward a certified question of law to the appropriate court of another State or designated foreign country. These rules permit a State to decide its own questions of law when that law is ruled to be the governing law in a federal court, court of another State or designated foreign country. This act supersedes a prior Uniform Act promulgated in 1967 and amended in 1990.
