MODEL EMPLOYMENT TERMINATION ACT

PURPOSE:
To protect employees from wrongful discharge by requiring that all dismissals be made
for "good cause." The remedy for dismissing an employee without good cause is reinstatement,
back-pay, lost benefits, or, in the alternative, a lump-sum severance payment.

ORIGIN:
Completed by the Uniform Law Commissioners in 1991.
